First impressions matter?

By Wise Diva

Some people put a lot of effort into the “image” they want to project on the dating scene because they know first impressions are important. Basically, a lot of people think you can judge a book by its cover when you’re single. Of course, this leads to rampant use of false identities, faux personalities, and fraudulent lies. A bit hyperbolic, maybe but have you ever met someone and got the bait and switch later? It’s awful.

Why are first impressions that important if they are based on so little information? Hasn’t someone ever become more attractive after you get to know them better?

I know a guy who spends so much time in the gym but could barely hold a conversation about anything besides pop culture or sports. He surely would turn heads but beyond that, it’s snooze city! If first impressions are so superficial, why do we rule people out when we spot something we don’t like?

Kimmie, I was just looking at some options for my birthday, and the all inclusives want between $125 to $135 a day. and 3400 points, that's why I opted to pay full price.

Kimmie that's what I used last week, Still have some more to use by the end of the year. Imma try and get 2 weeks with my points nest year.

Do you guys still have to pay for food? When I looked at mine, through RCI in march, it was cheaper for me to pay the all inclusive price and keep my points for another vacation.

@SlimNu Went diving of course, rode around the island, and relaxed

@DirtyBird-Rise-up at your #3 I'm always asking folks why they are looking for something to complain about when they reply "can't complain" when they're asked how they're are doing.

Also when I reply with a positive answer, I'm almost always asked "what's so positive" Like life just can't be positive.

@Celisea .....I am glad you came off the funny farm... Yes, I do have all the answers....I am very drunk off my own brand because my life is very enjoyable because I laugh at lot. What that means is I don't waste time coming on a blog and being negative everyday...try to have some fun after sunday service...Your panties must be very tight these days ...What, What!

I do blog on the political sites, but the only name you will see is DirtyBird....Sorry to disappoint queen negativity of the other good blog...I think they are calling you, they need a negative comment....

When you are in a relationship, you are shole nuff delusional... Dude must have dump ya! hehehehehe!

I think he blogs at another place under different names.  You know, that's really creepy.  Out front you appear to be this great person, but you're somewhere creeping behind names and aliases...

Durty, you sound like this dude that use to blog here.  Mister "Got All The Right Answers", but would always hide behind different names, a plethora of names to spead his thoughts and get it said, cause he knew all the malarky and "how to be a good dater" answers (but no results) would get him blasted. Dontcha just hate when a person is drunk off their own brand?  When they got all the answers, everything they say sounds good to them on paper, in writing? Got all the answers and knows exactly what should but done, but can't fnd a boo?  THAT IS HI LARIOUS....lolololol  Drunk off ya own brand, I tell ya....lolololol

On topic: Yeah first impressions matter.  Just because I'm polite don't mean I'm impressed.  I've been polite to make it through a date, but I was running (ruuuun forrest ruuuuuun) to get the heck on as soon as the night ended.

@DirtyBird-Rise-up Not cleaning a new trend???? That sounds so funny to me. But you know there are plenty of peeps that just don't value cleanliness. Folks have just gotten lazier.

Yea it usually takes me a while before I buy in, the one time I did with one young lady she got so relax, she stopped cleaning her place, the true stank attitude came out and all this took place in 3 months... I had to push her to the side after I lit it up a few more times...She was true in that department...

I am meeting quite a few women who do not keep a clean place or food in the fridge. Is this a new trend?

Hey all, slim you only first because I want to make sure you get yours :-D

O/T I pay no attention to first impressions, if we make it 6 months, that's around the time I start to pay attention, because that's when the real person usually starts to show up.

A Top of the morning to everyone!

1. Live life to the fullest everyday!

2. Put forth your best effort every day!

3. Quit complaining and smile more.

Regarding the dating scene, why try to be someone else, then you have to keep the falsity on a regular basis. The consequences are you might miss out on the person whom you can have a great relationship with, but because you were projecting a false image you lost that persons trust.

This is why, I do not get keeping secrets from your mate. When they find out guess what the consequences is going to be?  They will get ghost!

Stop the foolishness be yourself and it will attract the right person for you. You may not get the person you think is right, but being yourself attracts a person who like who you are...

Good morning, looks like i'm first. Let's just hope i'm not the only one today lol

Anyhoo, "A bit hyperbolic, maybe but have you ever met someone and got the bait and switch later?"  Yup, met a guy one night while out with a friend of mine, and by the next day he started showing his cwazy. So that first impression wore off in record time. lol

I wouldn't say first impressions are the end all be all because like previously stated, you really don't have much to go on as far as merit goes. I think in dating we all want to have the great connection and spark but it doesn't always go down like that. (well depending on what you're even looking for)

"  Hasn’t someone ever become more attractive after you get to know them better?" Why yes of course. Sometimes that even better because you're not getting wrapped up into just the physical and very shallow parts of dating. My ex before last was a prime example of that. What connected us what personality, talking, sharing and spending time together and frankly we were almost always laughing. VERY important to me.
